Recently, Google removed 29 malicious apps from its prominent Android app market —Play Store. These apps were removed by the tech-giant after Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister of Punjab, demanded an immediate dropping of all these ‘anti-India apps’ including the mischievous 2020 Sikh Referendum app.
All these apps are no longer available on the store to the users in India. The ‘2020 Sikh Referendum’ app asked the users to vote for the ‘Punjab Referendum 2020 Khalistan’. Following the event, CM Amarinder Singh has also urged the Central authorities to take note of the case and persuade Google for the same.
As soon as the matter came to the notice of Punjab government , the Cyber Crime Centre of the Bureau of Investigation of the state issued notice to the company under Section 79 (3) B of the Information Technology Act for immediate removal of all these apps from the Play Store.
The app was created by ‘ICETECH’ which is believed to be a brainchild of the US-based ‘Sikhs for Justice’ group. The secessionist group is backed by the notorious Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and is banned in India. CM Singh stated that the launch of the app in India was done on the background of the opening up of the Kartarpur Corridor which Pakistan is trying to use for dividing the Indian Sikh community sentiments.
Khalistan movement began in the 70s and later turned violent, leaving thousands dead. The strong resistance came from within the Sikh community, which has always been known to be the upholder of justice and be the patriots amongst the patriots. Consequently, the movement died down and the prosperous state of Punjab is on its way to achieving its dual goal – progress and purity.
Recently, when the whole Indian community especially the Sikh community is celebrating the opening of the Kartarpur corridor, Pakistan is trying to misuse it for reviving the Khalistan separatist movement in Punjab to spread insurgency in India.
When a number of pilgrims were rejoicing their lifetime moment at the historic Kartarpur Gurudwara, a bomb from the 1971 Indo-Pak war encased in the glass drew their attention. The plaquette at the encasement notes that:
Indian Air Force dropped this Bomb during 1971 at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Sri Kartarpur Sahib with the aim to destroy it. However, this evil design could not be materialised due to blessing of Waheguru Ji (Almighty Allah). The said bomb landed into Sri Khoo Sahib (Sacred Well) and this Darbar Sahib remained unheart (sic). It is pertinent to mention that this is the same sacred well from where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji used to get water to irrigate his fields.
This shameful and pathetic propaganda by the failed state -Pakistan that several journalists reported, became unsuccessful as the majority of Indians who went to the Gurudwara, just ignored the plaquette as if it was not there at all. Hence, the Pakistani authorities and cross border terrorist groups including the secessionists must take note of their failures.
Having said that, the Indian intelligence and enforcement agencies should remain vigilant to the vicious and coward acts by the terrorist groups, to which the country is slightly prone to. When India is on the verge of becoming a global power and is planning to achieve a $5 trillion economy, we should remain united to defeat each and every propaganda that Pakistan plays to take India backward.
