Bihari Muslims act on Prophet Muhammad’s message of religious harmony, put their weight behind construction of Hindu temple!

There is not much to feel good about Bihar. There is backwardness, lack of opportunities, gundaraj and a complete absence of righteous people in politics. Lalu Prasad Yadav looted Bihar for a good 15 years, without shame or guilt. Nitish Kumar is proving to be even more dangerous than Lalu. He is dictatorial, does not listen to his cabinet of ministers, is prejudiced to democratic opinions and cannot tolerate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His hatred is such that in recent times, as many as half a dozen JD(U) leaders have been shown the door by the chief minister for praising or meeting Narendra Modi.

These two destroyers of Bihar have joined hands to meet the growing threts of Modi. Till about last year, they were sworn enemies, ready to kill each other. If the people of Bihar fail to see the cunning of Nitish and Lalu and vote for them in the forthcoming elections, their fate is sealed! Bihar will continue to fall deeper and deeper into insignificance… but this is a topic for another day.

There is another side to Bihar which recently displayed religious harmony and brotherhood. In a touching expression  of communal harmony, Muslims of Bihar have collectively donated land to help build the world’s largest Hindu temple which will have the capacity to seat a staggering 20,000 people! According to a secretary of the Mahavir Mandir Trust, entrusted with constructing the mandir, ‘it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Muslims.’ The temple was to be named “Virat Angkor Wat Ram Mandir”, but later its name was changed following objections by people in Cambodia.

This is a heart-warming development in a country whose image is stained due to regular outbreak of communal tension and discord. Hindus donating land is heard of, but Muslims in great numbers doing it makes it so much more magical. The fundamentalists of other religions should take a leaf out of their books.

Interestingly, this is not for the first time that Muslims in Bihar have shown solidarity with the Hindus. Earlier, some Muslims had helped build a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Durga in Gaya district, another temple was dedicated to God Shiva in Begusarai district and in Sitamarhi district.

Sometimes, the fighting, the hatred and the intolerance based on religion makes no sense at all. What are we fighting for? By establishing a particular religion’s supremacy over the others, what good comes out?
