The Delhi Traffic Police has suggested a loving idea to deal with road rage and it is impressive. They have strongly advised Delhi citizens: “Put a photograph of your loved ones on your car’s dashboard to manage anger when on road.” Recent months have seen an increase in the incidents of road rage, with people going crazy and wild on the roads. Delhi Police and Delhi traffic police are blamed for everything that happens on the road. For even the smallest of issue, drivers have been reported to kill and grievously hurt each other. Whether it is a parking issue or a scratch on the car accidentally, there is a serious lack of respect for life. Cars seem more important than human lives. Their anger and aggressive style of driving needs a serious check.
The Delhi Police are always out there on the road, doing their duty, constantly trying to keep a check on the volatile nature of Delhi residents. “Leaving 10 minutes early will allow you to handle delays calmly,” said an officer of Delhi Traffic Police. Few other suggestions made by the Delhi Traffic Police include finding an alternative route in case of congestion and listening to relaxing music. These measures might appear light and linked to emotions, but they could be highly effective in controlling one’s anger. A look at your daughter or wife will help you calm down and value life.
Just the way we are frustrated from our personal and professional lives, even the Police officers face such issues, if not more. There are no offs as such for a Delhi Police officers and constables. They are required to put in long hours, whether it is holi or diwali, you will see them patrolling the streets so that we are safe. They would leave their houses on Diwali and holi just to be on the road and manage traffic and check crime. They are the real heroes and we blame them for all our misgivings. We will only know how tough their lives are when we ourselves get out there under the hot summer sun and deal with hot heads and people who lack civic sense. and Just get out for once in the scorching heat of Delhi or the freezing cold chilly winter night, only then will you begin to appreciate the tough conditions they live and work in.
Delhi Police is available for public even at odd hours. We all notice the Delhi Police personnel on their duty in all seasons and at all hours, they do not take off on festivals either, but in spite of all their sacrifices, we always portray them as bad men. There are bad apples in every sphere. The Delhi Police is no exception, but to paint the entire Delhi Police community with the same brush would be unfair and cruel.
Mr. Bhim Sain Bassi, the commissioner of Delhi Police has done a lot for the state to make it safe and sound. The Delhi police also drop women to their destination when they are not able to find a mode of transport at odd hours. They sacrifice their sleep and would wake up at 3 am if duty calls. While we sleep without any care, they roam the streets to ensure our precious sleep doesn’t get disturbed.
We need to appreciate the effort made by the Delhi Police and the Delhi Traffic Police to make Delhi what it is today. Just before we play the blame game, let us step into their shoes and realise how hard their duty is. Their lives are every day at risk. Their families are in constant fear of losing their loved ones. They do not get the same facilities that an army officers’ family is provided. Their children go to army schools, they get free treatment, fooding and almost everything is subsidised. Let us all gather and praise the efforts of Delhi Police. They are not just a law and order agency but human beings.
