She was a talented girl who was only just beginning to bloom. She was not aware of the cruelty that prevails in this world and had to pay the price for her innocence with her life. In the Moga District, Punjab, a girl of thirteen years was molested and killed by the conductor and helper of a Bus. Both the girl and her mother were mercilessly thrown out of the bus after being molested. What makes the case high-profile is the fact that the bus belonged to a company owned by the ruling party/family of Punjab – the Badals. Sukhbir Singh Badal, son of Punjab’s chief minister, Prakash Singh Badal, owns ‘Orbit Aviation Private Limited’.
Despite the presence of other passengers, nobody questioned the act of the conductor of the bus, and when the mother asked to stop the bus, they were treated like animals. This news has created havoc in the political system of Punjab and raises questions about the despotic nature of the Badal family.
The transport system of Punjab has grown leaps and bounds in decades. Earlier, the percentage of private operator operating in the transport system was 30%, but now the tables have turned and the percentage is raised to 70% because of the involvement of big names and corporations in this business. Although the travelling condition in the state has improved, mafia raj has grown with it too.
The bus company, Orbit, rules the roads in Punjab and is extremely harsh on those who float their own private bus service. They have created a monopoly wherein anyone not toeing the line is tackled in the most brutal manner. Prakash Singh Badal and his son, Sukhvinder Singh Badal, rule Punjab with an iron hand and there is no space for revolt.
The directors are just acting directors of these travelling companies, the strings are pulled by the powerful political family. There is nothing wrong in gaining some profit, but it is a problem when it turns bloody and sinful.
Nobody wants to give a political colour to the death of their loved one, but nobody is leaving the family of the departed girl alone. The opposition party of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP are attacking them. The ruling party of Punjab, Prakash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal, should brace themselves because sooner rather than later they will have to be indicted.
