Incredible India’s ‘barely credible’ Congress defies logic, again! This time, it attacks Modi with Aamir Khan Stick

Two things.

India might not be that incredible after all. And, Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ will earn really well later this year. With so much publicity, Khan will likely draw historical numbers for his next release – Dangal. It’s a phenomenon with us Indians.

Aamir Khan

The widespread understanding about the removal, or rather natural exclusion, of Aamir Khan as the ambassador of “Incredible India” campaign is a bit skewed. We are being incredibly ignorant of facts and basing our judgment on popular perception engineered by the opposition parties…

The Government of India did not bring in Aamir Khan in the first place, so there is no question of removing him. An advertising agency recruited him, which had a contract with the Government to run the ‘Incredible India” campaign. Once the contract ended, it was only natural for Aamir Khan to exit. Unless, of course, the Government decided to extend the contract with Prasoon Joshi-led McCann Worldgroup. But that would be violation of its own rules.

Remarkably, the secular-obsessed Congress is bashing the Narendra Modi-led NDA for taking out Khan without mentioning the reality. One can imagine where the angle is coming from. Aamir Khan innocently talked about growing intolerance in India some time back, unwittingly adding muscle to the opposition voice against BJP at the time. Today, they believe Modi is punishing him for it.

The Government did not ask the advertising agency to eliminate Khan. It did not terminate the contract with the ad agency mid-way. The contract was between Aamir Khan and the agency, the Government never even dealt with Khan directly. How could they drop him, then?

Unless Congress gets down to finding more meaningful agenda to raise their voce against, or for, their numbers will dwindle furthermore in 2019… 44 is too thin already. Congress’ careless outlook to regulations reflects its growing intolerance to the Government. The shock of 2014 defeat has still not worn off.

In the current context, it might be important to recall that during Emergency, Congressman VC Shukla banned Kishore Kumar songs from All-India Radio and Doordasrhan because the legendary singer refused to perform at a Congress function.

This intolerance debate is a hoax, a sham. It stands no test of reason.

Enter Amitabh Bachchan

The only incredible Indian this country has. He is the go-to man for all publicity. We are unable to think beyond him. The ambassador of Gujarat is being touted as the frontrunner for the hot seat.

Leander Paes could be the Incredible India face. He is the epitome of resilience and the will to achieve impossible dreams. I think K Radhakrishnan, the architect of “Mangalyaan”, who helped India become the first country in the world to enter the Martian orbit in its maiden attempt, should be India’s image. Many more come to mind.

India’s obsession with Amitabh Bachchan is now beginning to bother me. I am a big fan, too, but I have developed the ability to look beyond him for inspiration.

In any case, only the Government and the advertising agency cannot have the privilege to decide for the 1.25 billion Indians. I think the decision should be put to vote. Give us a few top options, and we’ll vote. It’s a small element of ‘inclusiveness in decision making’ that the Government promised.
