Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son, is infamous for giving us headaches! Every time he opens his mouth, only nasty, unpleasant words come out. The Indian public considers him to be more of a criminal than a politician! Perhaps, he enjoys the negative publicity in some twisted way and likes to be seen as a bad ass.
For those who do not know, the 38-year-old very well, here’s a crash course – did his schooling in Sainik School, then did his Bachelor of Engineering and Masters of Engineering in Civil Environment Engineering at the University of Mysore in Karnataka. Akhilesh then went on to get his “foreign education” – a Masters degree in environmental engineering from the University of Sydney, in Australia.
Strangely, Akhilesh shows no signs of an educated, well-read individual. His language is crude and insensitive, mannerisms are that of a high priest or a king, and his thinking is underdeveloped. Ever since he took oath as chief minister of UP, the state has seen a rise in riots and corruption. Nepotism is practiced in UP more than any other State. His wife, Dimple Yadav, was given a ticket to enter politics just because she wanted to, not because she was qualified in terms of commitment to serve the poor and disempowered. Mulayam Singh’s brothers – Ram Gopal Yadav and Shiv pal Singh Yadav – are also in politics. There is a strong belief that Akhilesh Yadav is just the progressive face of the State and the real executive powers are in the hands of Mulayam and his brothers.
Akhilesh Yadav recently denied AIMIM leader, Asaduddin Owaisi, permission to hold rallies in the State. It is one thing to criticise a political leader, quite another to endorse the denial of democratic rights to him. This is dictatorial, but in line with his father’s policies while he was in power. It is difficult to understand such harsh treatment of a man who has been recognised as ‘Sansad Ratna’ for his active participation in issues of importance in the parliament. It’s good news for the Hindu hardliners, by the way.
Akhilesh Yadav’s hypocrisy was recently revealed, maybe for the hundredth time. There are advertising boards all over the state that promises ‘working expeditiously’ for the welfare of the farmers. The truth is, they are getting cheques of mere 50, 100 and 200 rupees. At many places, the cheques are bouncing and the Government dares to talk about working for farmer’s welfare? Official sources say Rs 757 crore has been distributed so far to 16.10 lakh farmers all over the state as compensation for crop loss. How can this be possible when the relief amount is as less as 75?
He was caught also caught and photographed with an accused in the Saharanpur violence.
He has also made statements, without realising, that expose his hypocrisy. He once said, “People had been telling me for many days to watch ‘PK’. I ‘downloaded’ it a few days ago, but only found the time to watch it last night. I liked it immediately and decided to make it tax-free so that more people can watch it.” He admitted to indulge in piracy by downloading. This may sound harmless, but it reflects the law-breaking mindset of Akhilesh Yadav.
Goons belonging to Samajwadi Party create regular havoc on the streets. They threaten people with dire consequences if they failed to pay respect and money. Akhilesh is aware of it all but has allowed this disease to fester right under his nose.
It is slowly becoming a failed State!
